William Vignaroli

For William Vignaroli, martial arts have gradually become something very different from what he initially sought: no longer simply an outlet for tension and frustration, but a path of exploration capable of transforming his relationship with himself and everyday life.

After gaining experience in MMA, Kundalini Yoga, and Yang-style Tai Ji Quan, he met Master Mauro A. D’Angelo in 2017, following a recommendation from his Tai Chi teacher. From their first encounters, he discovered a welcoming environment and a teaching approach characterised by simplicity, gradual progression, and rigour, in which technical exploration translated into tangible physical qualities that could be directly experienced.

The most significant difference lay not so much in the principles themselves, but in the way they could be developed. Relaxation, grounding, and centring, which he had previously experienced only occasionally and found difficult to reproduce, became progressively understandable and manageable processes. Particularly meaningful was the transformation of his Zhan Zhuang practice: what had once been an endurance challenge, focused on tolerating the discomfort of holding a posture, became a practice in which releasing unnecessary tension allowed him to organise his body and consciously regulate the intensity of his training.

Since 2021, William has been teaching DECODE programmes, combining regular classes with private lessons, seminars, and introductory events. He has also contributed to a two-year project integrating Eastern practices into the training of professional and semi-professional tennis players.

His twenty years of experience as an educator working with adolescents and young adults have helped shape his approach to teaching, further refined through DECODE teacher training. Today, he considers it essential to create coherent learning progressions, carefully observe students, and identify concrete, verifiable objectives.

His commitment to DECODE stems from a desire to share this potential for transformation: guiding people towards discovering, through repeatable experiences and small changes in the quality of movement, abilities and possibilities that had previously seemed little more than abstract concepts.
